Product Review: Swarovski Women’s Fitness Gloves

Work out…looking like a girl!

I LOVE this companies motto!

I received a pair of these awesome workout gloves from Femme Fitale Fitness in "HOT Pink" and I must say I am really impressed with them.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to workout gloves. I've went through several brands before finding ones I really loved and I've been using that brand for the past 2-3 years. Only problem is, they cost $50! YIKES! That's a lot for a pair of workout gloves, at least to me, it is :) I've tried the cheaper ones and just didn't care for them. Either the padding just wasn't there or the fit wasn't right.

So I was really excited to try out these new gloves. They fit Perfect! The padding is Perfect! And they look pretty dang cute!

Hot Pink Fitness with Swarovski Crystals

A little information from their website:

Match your outfit or your mood and work out looking like a girl with these feminine, fingerless fitness gloves for weight lifting, spin classes, elipticals, rowing machines, pilates, yoga, wheelchair use, etc. Each color is hand embellished with color matched genuine Swarovski crystals!

Our women’s weight lifting gloves and fitness gloves include animal print women’s fitness gloves and color fitness gloves embellished with genuine Swarovski crystals. Our golf gloves are 100% soft lambskin leather, are also embellished with genuine Swarovski crystals, and feature a matching Swarovski crystal and glitter Bonjoc brand snap on ball marker.

I highly recommend these gloves to anyone that likes a great feeling glove that provides support and padding without being too bulky! Next on my list is an all black pair and perhaps I'll let my wild side out and get an animal print too :)

Be sure to check them out at: Femme Fitale Fitness

Product Review: Coaches Oats & A Giveaway

Well if you have been following my blog or post on facebook, you know I LOVE oatmeal! I eat it almost every morning and sometimes have it for a snack. I have several Baked Oatmeal recipes here on my blog and was super excited when I found out about a "new to me" brand of oatmeal called "Coaches Oats", I was even more excited when the company sent me samples to try out!

For those of you that aren't a fan of the mushy oatmeal, you are going to LOVE these! They have the texture of steel cut oatmeal, but don't take 30-45 minutes to cook like traditional steel cut oatmeal does.

Coach’s Oats are prepared in an entirely new way. The groats are toasted to bring the natural sugars to the surface of the oat, then cracked into small pieces. This patented Cracked n' Toasted™ process means that Coach’s Oats are never mushy, always naturally delicious and cook in just 3 to 5 minutes on a stove top or in the microwave. That's the Coach’s Oats difference!

So even though these can be cook in the microwave or the stove top, I just had to try them in one of my baked oatmeal recipes. I made Baked Apple Pie Oatmeal using Coach's Oats and it turned out wonderful! The texture was great (wasn't mushy at all) and the flavor was amazing!

Baked Apple Pie Oatmeal using Coach's Oats
I will definitely be using these oats again. They have several recipes listed on their website that I plan on trying out and of course using them in my baked oatmeals as well.

Coach's Oats can be purchased on their website and they even sell a single-serving packet for those of you who would like to try it out before buying a big bag.

Giveaway!!
Now for GOOD News! The company sent me enough samples, so I have decided to share it with one lucky reader of my blog! I have (4) single-serving packets that I will be giving away to one lucky winner! To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is post a comment here! It's that simple!! ONE LUCKY WINNER will be drawn at random from all entries next Sat. Feb. 26th. Good Luck! :)

Well I am off for the day to relax and spend some time with my family. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Product Review: Filtrete Water Station

Filtrete Water Station

I was excited when I was contacted by the 3M company to see if I would be interested in reviewing their Filtrete Water Station. We are a family that goes through 60+ gallons of bottle water per month. That's a LOT of bottles! Even though we recycle the bottles, you can imagine how the cost adds up! So when I was approached with the opportunity to try a product that could save us money, I couldn't pass it up.

We already own one of those pitcher water filtering systems that is made by another company and my biggest complaint with that is the time it takes to fill up the pitcher. When I read up on this system, one of it's features was quick filtering, so that made me even more excited!

The day the Filtrete Water Station arrived, my 13 yr. old daughter and I were both in the kitchen. She was just as excited as I was. A new gadget to try out!. So after opening the box and reading the quick easy to follow instructions, we she got busy setting it up.

My thoughts:
The system was VERY easy to use. The water filtered very fast, unlike the pitcher we had used before. My daughter was able to set it up herself without any trouble. We put the bottles in the refrigerator and the boys both asked if they could have one when they came upstairs. I think the novelty of the bottle made them want to try it :)

About 15 minutes later, all 4 bottles were empty. They can of course be refilled quickly but you have to wash them first and then if you want cold water, you have to keep them in the frig until they chill. The company does sell extra bottles so this would solve the problem of having to refill bottles so often.

My biggest complaint with the system is the size of the bottles. It comes with (4) 16oz. bottles. I go through at least a gallon of water a day, so you can imagine how much I would have to filter to be able to use these bottles. Also I take water on the go with me and usually carry a 32oz. plastic water jug. I would have to take 2 of these water bottles for it to be enough. I really wish the company had different size options for bottles. A 32 oz. bottle would be perfect.

We did use the system for a few days (mainly the kids did) but really for our family who drinks so much water, it just didn't seem practical and who wants to spend all day refilling bottles. Now if you are a family that doesn't drink as much water as we do, this might be the perfect thing for you. For us, it just didn't cut it!

Product Review: Alexia Roasted Red Potatos & Italian Inspired Vegatables

I had an amazing dinner tonight using 2 new products that I now highly recommend.

Steak and Potatos w/vegtables

Alexia Roasted Red Potatos & Italian Inspired Vegatables(great northen beans, tomatoes, onions, spinash, and a basil-infused oil blend).

This product was very good and so simple to make. It comes in the frozen section and is usually with the organic/all natural foods. Each bag contains 3 servings of 1 ¼ cups each at 180 calories. I paid around $3.00 for it (I think it was on sale). To make it, you simply heat up the oil (it comes in a packet) in a skillet, then add your potato mixture and saute for 8-10 mins.

The 2nd product I used today for the first time was:

Paula Deen Merlot Wine Sauce

This was so good! It taste a lot like A1 steak sauce but with a wine flavor. And it has only 15 calories and 0 fat per 1 tbps.

I just rubbed it on my steak and grilled it. It gave the steak such a yummy flavor! Will be using this sauce on my steak for now on. Going to try it on chicken too!

Product Review: Chicken Avocado Wrap using Joseph's Lavash Bread

I made a yummy wrap today using a new product I found at Wal-Mart. It was a great and easy lunch to put together using pre-made rotisserie chicken.

The lavash bread was only $1.88 for 4 large slices (8 servings). I found it in the fresh deli section of Wal-Mart.

Chicken Avocado Wrap

½ slice of Joseph's Lavash Bread (they are huge slices)
Approx. 3 oz. of Rotisserie Chicken
Sliced Avocado
Salsa
Lettuce

I warmed up the lavash bread before adding the filling.

Here is a picture of the lavish bread:

The bread (it's thin like a wrap) is very soft and has a good flavor.

The nutritional information is:

1 serving (½ slice):
50 Calories
2 g. fat
260 mg. sodium
7 g. carbs
3 g. fiber
5 g. protein

I will for sure be using these often. I'll let you know what I come up with. And if you have used them before, please share with us how you used them.

Product Review: Arnold Select 100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins

I came across a product the other day at the grocery store that I had never seen before. I'm not sure how long they have been around but they are new to me. I made a sandwich today and just loved it, so wanted to share it with you all.

Arnold Select 100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins

Each Sandwich Thin (2 slices) are only:
100 calories
1g Fat
5g fiber
5g protein.
And for those on Weight Watchers, they are only 1 pt each.
oh and No High Fructose corn syrup either.

They are much thiner than a hamburger bun (hence the name) but a little bit rounder than one. They are soft and can fit in the toaster. And come in 3 different varieties, but I have only used the whole wheat.

Ok, so as I mentioned I decided to make a sandwich today and this is what I used:
  • 1 Sandwich Thin (2 slices)
  • 2 slices Deli Ham
  • 1 slice 2% Swiss Cheese
I then grilled it for a couple mins. on my foreman indoor grill and added the following:
  • lil bit of Mayo & Mustard
  • Tomato
  • Onion
  • Lettuce
(note: once you add the filling, the calories, pts. values, etc. go up)

The sandwich was so GOOD!!!! Grilling it gave it just a touch of crunch and warmed up the ham and cheese. That in combination with the cold stuff I added after I grilled it, made a Great sandwich. I am already craving another one, so will probably have it for lunch again tomorrow, maybe use turkey this time.

I really like these sandwich thins. What I like about them is that you can taste what is inside of them instead of just a mouth full of bread. I use to eat at Subway alot when I was doing weight watchers but their bread is so thick that you really can't even taste the meat and other stuff on the inside. With these sandwich thins, you get just the right amount of bread.

I have already started thinking of all the other ways I could use them. Some other items (combinations) I want to try with these are:
  • mini pizzas
  • grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich
  • in place of a hamburger or hotdog bun
  • toasted with some butter and jelly
I'll post any other combinations I come up with! I think I'll be using these a lot!

Shelly

Product Review: Fit & Fresh

Since I am now cooking everyday, there are plenty of leftovers to take to work. I wanted to find a nice compact container that would fit everything in it and still fit in a lunch bag.

I was at Target the other day and found the perfect one:

It's by a company called Fit & Fresh and they have a whole line of neat stuff. The one pictured above is what I bought. You put the main dish in the big container and then put the icepack on top of that. There are groves that hold it into place so it doesn't actually sit on the food. You then take the two smaller dishes and they fit on top of the icepack. The purple thing is the lid which can also be used as a plate. So it all fits together nicely and you have one container to carry around with you. It's much easier to pack his lunch and stays nice and cold too. My only suggestion would be to come in different colors.

I also bought these little 2 cup containers that have a icepack that attaches to the inside of the lid. These are perfect for my son to take a snack in them to school and it keeps it nice and cold.

Again, I bought them at Target. They also had a salad one there too. But they have even more options on their website:

And they also sell them on Amazon:

Product Review - Eat this, Not That

Here is my first product review. I will have several to share with you throughout my journey, as I try new things myself.

Eat This, Not That

by: David Zinczenko

The author of these books was on Oprah one day and he was sharing information on the best and worst foods to eat. For example, he said regular bacon is better than turkey bacon.

Me thinking turkey bacon was the best choice all this time, just had to check out the book(s). I am so happy I did.

I purchased the regular one and the kids edition and I LOVE them both! They are great at explaining food labels to you, what you should avoid and look for and so much more. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know before and am making better choices because of them, especially for my kids, who are having a harder time giving up "boxed" foods than I am. At least this way, I know I am getting them the "better" option.

The kid's version even got my kids excited. They spent a long time looking through it and my daughter even took the book to school to share with her friends. :) How great is that! It's exciting seeing them interested in what food is better for them!

I highly recommend both books. There is a also restaurant edition too but I didn't get that one. I bought mine at Target and I imagine you can get them at any similar store or bookstore. You can also purchase them online at Amazon:
